Ok, it seems that I lied about only doing two more posts this season. I'm sneaking this one in too. Thought it might be an interesting idea to see what other Frontale fans think about this season so I'm attempting the first ever Frontale Rabbit Blog survey. I have to admit, the questions are not exactly thrillingly original. If you have any questions you think I should add, please let me know and I'll put them in. Please reply any way you want. 1. The last one against Ardija. Went in not expecting the big season win, so just wanted to see some positive, Frontale-esque football, which we got in spades.
ReplyDelete2. Jung Sung-Ryong. Everyone had their moments, and it's hard not to go with Kobayashi for his excellent season and successful first captaincy, but the league win wouldn't have happened without our goalie making some outrageous stops in more than a few games.
3. Elsinho's against Sendai, beginning the comeback rally that won arguably our most important game, was probably the most important; Moriya's long-range beauty against Cerezo was in isolation the best for me.
4. Levain final. So many crackers left in my kitchen as a reminder of it too.
5. Everyone involved in the Kashiwa away game going forward. Absolutely dire conditions. If we'd lost that or had serious injuries as a result, I think we'd be complaining a lot more about it.
6. Sadly none for me.
7. Gamba.
8. Urawa.
9. Ardija.
10. Bellmare.
11. Passion without mania. Perhaps because it's not the country's number one sport, I feel as though the fans really do care about the game and their teams, but (with very few exceptions) not as tribally or hostilely as can be the case in other countries.
12. Is it just me, or is there a lot of pussyfooting around the edge of the box instead of just having a crack or getting stuck in?

14. I think he's got another season in him as a starter, but if I'm wrong I hope he or Oniki recognizes it and they don't try to force it if it isn't working. I thought passing the torch to Kobayashi while remaining a key player this season was a great move.

It was so bad conditions that players can't play soccer enough.
But J League couldn't decided to call off the game.

I hope he will play as first team regular.
I want to watch his play as long as possible.

Moriya in league game 28, home to Cerezo, although there were plenty to choose from.

Levain Cup Final. Worse than the ACL because we just didn't show up.

Going slightly off piste and saying the pitch at Vissel Kobe which did its best to ruin our season. If you're not happy with that, choose almost any J League referee.
6. Best away trip (if you've done one)
I'm cheating again, but Sendai for the city, Tosu for the game, Thespakusatsu for the fun or getting totally soaked, and Kashima for the exhilaration of destroying them at their own ground.

Vegalta Sendai

Kashima Antlers
9. Team you're disappointed to see go down
Albirex Niigata or Ventforet Kofu. Both are very enjoyable away trips, but maybe I'd choose Albirex as we never seem to do very well against Kofu.

The atmosphere in the stands and lack of aggression between opposing fans (generally speaking)

Without a doubt, the huge number of absolutely hopeless referees

Semi-regular starter. Don't think we can rely on him to play every game anymore. He deserves a rest!
