New players, part 4: Ao Tanaka & Akihiro Ienaga

Part 4 of my pre-season new player round up. Once again, most information is swiped from Wikipedia and the photos swiped from the Frontale website. Sorry!

Ao Tanaka

Squad number - 32
Position - Midfielder

D.O.B. - 10th September 1998

Height - 1.78m

A product of the Frontale youth system (where he was captain), Ao has been playing for Frontale for years (since 2007) and started his time at Frontale in the stands supporting the team. A local lad, he has been widely tipped to be a future captain of the team. Flirted with the first team last year and made it into the squad a couple of times. This years extra fixtures could see him making more inroads. Went to the Emperor's Cup final in Osaka as a fan which I am sure has endeared him to the supporters!

Akihiro Ienaga

Squad number - 41
Position - Attacking midfielder
D.O.B. -
13th June 1986
Height - 1.73m

Hugely experienced player we signed from Omiya Ardija. Started his career at Gamba Osaka before moving to Oita Trinita and Cerezo Osaka and then moving to Spain and spending three seasons at RCD Mallorca. Scored two goals for them in 14 appearances in his first season but barely got a look in the two seasons after. Then moved to Korea and played for Ulsan Hyundai for a year before returning to Gamba for the 2012 and 2013 seasons. Didn't play much for them that time around though and moved on to Omiya Ardija in 2014. At Omiya, he played 92 times in three seasons scoring 28 goals. He made it into the J League team of the year last year, was Omiya's top scorer and it seems that their fans weren't too happy to lose him. But, guess he didn't want to play with the whinging Yokotani anymore, so he came to us! Has made a handful of appearances for Japan at various levels over the years but nothing recently.
